May 16, 2006 - We have been experiencing some sporadic, and seemingly unwarranted and random, credit card rejections by the system set up to accept conference fees, particularly for some non-U.S. participants. We are looking into the problems, but have not yet been able to determine why they are occurring. Some participants' card numbers are first rejected multiple times then somehow eventually accepted. Other participants' card numbers are rejected without explanation because they are entered with dashes or spaces. (No dashes or spaces please.) Because of such online problems, we are extending the reduced $500 conference fee deadline to June 1, 2006. We suggest that participants wire their conference fee if they are continually unsuccessful with the credit card option. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are at the mercy of higher powers.
Some participants are also experiencing problems with reserving rooms online at the Sheraton Maui Resort website for the days before and after the Symposium. We are working with the Sheraton to correct this problem. If you are experiencing such problems, the easiest solution in the short term is to call the Sheraton directly (808-661-0031) and reserve by phone.

August 3, 2006 - Ewalde Wicke Award - Continuing the tradition of past MH Symposia, the MH2006 organizers are announcing the opening of the Ewalde Wicke Award competition for young participants of the MH2006 Symposium. Please click on the Ewalde Wicke Award Tab above for details.

September 11, 2006 - Please note: The manuscript submission deadline has been extended to October 6, 2006 to help accommodate procrastinators as well as a change in the MH2006 submission procedure just enacted by The Journal of Alloys and Compounds. It has been decided that manuscripts are now all to be submitted online directly to JALCOM rather than emailed to MH2006.
