R&D Activities at HANARO
Young-Ki Kim (High-Flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor, South Korea)
HANARO is a 30 MW(th) multipurpose research reactor operated by the Korea Atomic Energy Institute (KAERI) in Daejeon. It was first critical in 1995. Recently a cold neutron guide hall was added to the facility, and a liquid hydrogen cold source was installed in 2011. Dr. Kim will present an overview of KAERI and its R&D programs. The HANARO reactor will be described as will its many applications to science and industry, including neutron beam research. Other research reactor projects will also be presented, including the KJRR in Korea and JRTR in Jordan.
