(1) ISIS Second Target Station Progress and (2) Elongational flow induced ordering in surfactant mesophases.
J. Penfold, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Oxford University
Jeff Penfold will discuss the progress being made on the ISIS second target station. This £140 million project is complementary to the facilities already operating at ISIS. It will enable the ISIS science program to expand into the key research areas of soft matter, advanced materials and bio-science. Construction began in July 2003 and first neutron production is scheduled for June 2007 with experiments expected to begin in October 2008. Following this 20 minute discussion John will review work done wth I. Tucker (Unilever, Oxford) on Elongational flow induced ordering in surfactant mesophases.
