Nanostructures of magnetic clusters
Sarah Stoll, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Georgetown University
We are interested in identifying methods for patterning known magnetic clusters, such as Mn-12 on surface and hierarchical solid state structures, as well as discovering new magnetic clusters. We have recently synthesized lanthanide dithiocarbamates complexes as precursors to lanthanide chalcogenide nanoparticles, LnE for Ln = Sm, Eu, Tm and E = S, Se. We are interested in studying the effect of quantum confinement in these magnetic semiconductors.
