The Mathematical Theory of Neutron Specular Reflectometry
Norm Berk, NCNR
The short course begun in April continues from where we left off but with a substantial review, which should be helpful to previous and new attendees, alike.
The role of Marchenko's special solutions to the wave equation will be further elucidated, and more mathematical preliminaries will be developed, leading up to the formal solution of the inverse scattering problem for specular reflection. Future lectures will deal in depth with computational issues, solutions to the phase determination problem, and the limits of interpretation of reflection experiments imposed by real measurement conditions.
