John Barker, Jim Moyer, and Paul Butler have been selected as recipients of this year's Jacob Rabinow Applied Research Award. The Rabinow Award is given "to recognize outstanding achievements in the practical application of the results of scientific or engineering research."

They are being awarded this honor for "the design, development, and stewardship of USANS: An ultra-high resolution, small-angle, neutron-scattering instrument." USANS has been quite successful since being added to the NCNR neutron instrument suite, especially for industrial research. It now boasts the highest industrial usage of any neutron scattering instrument in the country. Recognizing its performance, other international neutron facilities have built similar instruments.
